Rebecca grew up in Sussex where she attended Burgess Hill School, passing grade 8 on three instruments at the tender age of 15, continuing to gain a Sixth-form music Scholarship before being awarded a Soprano Choral Scholarship to Royal Holloway University of London where she gained a BMus (Hons) 2:1 degree. Here she also received the Alice Dougherty Chaplain award for excellence in advanced performance and the highest recital mark of her year. Since leaving Rebecca has become equally at home in Opera and Oratorio repertoire, ensemble singing and church singing, having maintained a professional Church job since April 2008 in Chelsea, and deputizing in various other London Churches.
Opera Repertoire includes Sandman and Dew Fairy Humperdinks Hansel and Gretal, Cis Brittens Albert Herring, Servilia Mozarts La Clemenza di Tito, Ilia Mozarts Idomeneo, 1st Witch Purcells Dido and Aeneas, Yum Yum Gilbert and SullivansThe Mikado, Kate Gilbert and Sullivans Pirates of Penzance, and chorus in Brittens Death in Venice, Verdis Macbeth, Bizets Carmen, Tchaikovskys Eugene Onegin, Blows Venus and Adonis, Gilbert and Sullivans Iolanthe, and Smetanas The Bartered Bride.
Solo Concert repertoire includes Handels Messiah, Brittens Ceremony of Carols, Bachs Christmas Oratorio, Mozarts Requiem, Haydns Little Organ Mass, Missa nicolai Sancti and Harmoniemesse, Schuberts Mass in G, Vaughan Williamss Serenade to Music, Purcells Come ye sons of Art and Ode to St Cecilia, Mendelssohns Herr Mein Bitten, and Telemanns Der Yunste Tag wird blad sein seil errichen.
In the UK, Rebecca has given recitals in The Queens Private Chapel (Windsor Great Park), The Royal courts of Justice London, The Lady Chapel, Ely Cathedral and has performed in Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, Westminster Abbey London, Southwark, Exeter, Chichester, St Paul’s London, Truro, St Alban’s Cathedrals, and Leeds Castle, and sings regularly with professional chamber choirs including The Armonico Consort, Voces Cantabiles, Colla Voce, Purely Choral, Il Suono, and The London Chamber Consort as well as maintaining a regular Sunday job at the church of St Simon Zealotes, Chelsea London. She has performed at Oxford, Portsmouth and St Endillion Music festivals under the baton of David Hill, Aidan Oliver, and Martyn Brabbins.
Outside of the UK, Rebecca has toured abroad to Czech Republic Prague, Belgium, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, France, Poland, Amsterdam, Italy, where she sung in St Marks Venice and the Basilica in Florence, and St Petersburg, Russia where she sang in the British Consulate. Her favourite experience has been touring the east coast of the USA, where she was lucky enough to perform in St Thomas fifth Avenue, New York, The British Embassy and Washington National Cathedral, Washington, Princeton University chapel, and Harvard Memorial church where she was the soprano soloist in a premiere performance of a new work by the American composer Carson Cooman along with the Buttrick Sinfonia.
Rebecca is the co-founder along with tenor Ben Thapa of a new Opera Company called Opus Opera which specializes in putting on concert performances of Opera in the heart of Chelsea. The company was set up to give young professional singers the chance to perform operatic roles within London, and with a first successful performance of Mozarts Idomeneo in January, the next performance will be Mozarts Clemenza di Tito in September.
